2010 Regatta Report...

The Regatta is an event that much of our lake looks forward to with great anticipation every year. But while it brings us out for a day of activities and fun in the sun, it also highlights the great spirit of our lake association. Over the past 6 years, I have been approached, at times, and thanked for leading our Regatta – while the comments are much appreciated, they are a direct reflection of the many volunteers that put our Regatta into action. So many people play a role in the organization of the Regatta, whether it is behind-the-scenes or more visibly throughout the Regatta day. Thus, I would like to take this opportunity to recognize all the amazing volunteers across our lake. I am proud to say that we have involved more and more enthusiastic people every year. I'm sure if you ask them why they do it, they would simply say, 'Its great seeing everyone have so much fun - I just want to be a part of it'.

Its been a great 6 years, and I have truly enjoyed my time as Regatta Chair. But in order to maintain a healthy turnover and to ensure fresh ideas and organization, I have decided to step down and take on new responsibilities on the CLPOA. As of next year, Alex Forani, with the support of the entire Forani family, will be leading the way as the new Regatta Chair. As I step down, I would like to personally thank my family (mother, father, sisters, cousins, aunts and uncles, grandmothers and grandfathers) who supported me in so many ways. Not only were they volunteering on the day, but they helped with a lot of the organization, and I couldn't have done it without them. Thank-you to Kathy Robichaud who has always contributed so much and provided me with insight from her many years as Corn and Weiner Roast Chair. And thank-you to Jim O'Shea who brought me to the CLPOA 6 years ago and who in many ways has been a mentor. Finally, thank you to all the participants. Without a doubt, it is the smiling faces and laughs that make everything worthwhile.

I have valued my time as Regatta Chair, and I sincerely hope that everyone has enjoyed this special day year after year. Thanks again for all your enthusiasm and support and see you at the lake!
