Apsley Community Care
Community Care in Apsley is a partially government funded agency which has 9 offices throughout Peterborough County. The Care program provides a wide range of services for seniors and the physically challenged which includes: Meals on Wheels, Friendly Visiting, Reassurance Checks, Home Help and Home Maintenance, Wellness Programs, Personal Distress Alarms, Information and Referral, Transportation, Medical Equipment Loans, and Income Tax Programs.
A large percentage of funding is raised locally, with donations from the community being very important. Community Care fundraising also includes activities such as tag day, a walkathon, craft sales, raffles and a New to You program.
The New to You Clothing (C. C. Fashions) is open to the public, Monday to Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and on Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. There is an excellent selection of clothing for children of all ages and a good selection of ladies and men's attire. Household items are also available at very low prices.
Chandos cottagers are invited to visit C. C. Fashions, purchase items for the family or home, or to make a clothing donation to assist with the fundraising program. The Community Care Office is located between the library and the Community Policing Office on Burleigh Street. Come and visit, even if you only wish to chat and enjoy a cup of coffee with a dedicated volunteer.
